So last weekend was the Aberdare contest...slotted in to a gap between the rain it turned out pretty good. I got to be a judge along with Tomsk and Sam.....the skating was brilliant, Sam, Jake, Beanhead, Nipper pretty much had the place dialled...the standard of everyone who skated was off the scale...can't remember too much about the details of the results. I'll get a full rundown from Ant or Jamie in the near future but they don't really matter....Jake did a flip backside disaster on the extension, Sam frontside blunted it...it was all about the tombstone but Beanhead had the hip line down...the bowl was painted black....the tunes were loud and fast. What more do you need for a great comp?

Learning to skate again...Part 2
So i thought it was time to bite the bullet last night and slay the demon of rocknrolls, the nemesis that has kept me off my board for so long...perseverance and a load of bailing and messing about trying to do 360rocks first because i thought it would make it easier, which it didn't and i finally beat the fear.....i think this was my 3rd rnr(video) since i tore my leg muscle last august...onward and upward!

Independent Day....4th June 2010.....
The Independent UK flow team had a bbq down at Ally's on Friday, collected all their clothes and shredded the ramp....here's a quick clip of some of the madness. Cheers Ally...it also turned out none of the team was vegetarian so faced with an array of meat i feasted on a bag of the possibly limited edition Brazillian Salsa Walkers....

Learning to skate again means going to different places, different sizes....smooth and rough...Newport has both so is a good place to get strength and confidence back....pretty hot today too....grunts indicate effort......

Things i've done in the last week....the summer weather got me out on the road, down to the ramp, around the bay and a trip over to Cardiff on the train......                                                                    Ione directing the shots down at the ramp. She is now my main filmer for the documenting of my return to skateboarding. Day one of my documented return included rockfakies, pivots, grinds, grind reverts.....

Then we went out for a ride, me and ione in the seat on the back and we headed for a quick geocache down by the Cork Ferry.

 Found the Cork Ferry Travel Bug waiting room and left the spider travel bug we had found the week before near Kidwelly.Geocaching over and we headed back round the bay all the way up to Mumbles.......ione fell asleep on the bike with the excitement of it all and the heat.

 Found one geocache in Cardiff city centre, went to Spillers and got hold of the Walter Schreifels album.......

Trying to shake the fear and get some strength back before i attempt a rocknroll on Wales smallest miniramp....my nemesis and the thing that put me out since last August, rocknrolls, not so much a trick but a way of turning...the next step up from a kickturn....anyway i don't bounce back as well as i did when i was a mere youth of 31, 10 years on and a few days before the birth of my second child i am being a bit wary. These days of documenting everything on blogs have led me to record my phoenixlike rise from the ashes of injury, breaks and strains will not stop me so this is the first of many seemingly repetitious clips.....hopefully, if no more appear then i am once again in plaster or leg up with ice packs...giddy up!!

Mum got hold of a video of the street party for the royal wedding in 1981....Desborough embraced the party spirit and this was our local one in the next street....someone had a video camera in 1981 too, it must have been massive but i don't remember seeing one....battery problems at the end of the clip...i'm in one of the races and so is Rich.

Here are some of the stats from my perspective in the race.....
The clips are from the longest skid comp and the prizegiving..had no time for race video or pics as i had my head down all the way to Mumbles and back.....thanks Evs for organising such a class event, i think most people got prizes too.

A trip up to Aberdare when the big snow hit yesterday and i found Ant at the park....i don't think he was too hopeful that the bowl would dry out anytime soon.
